BRAZILIAN JIUJITSU

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a predominantly ground-based martial art, using the principals of leverage, angles, pressure and timing, as well as knowledge of the human anatomy, in order to achieve a non-violent submission of one’s opponent. Unlike other martial arts that focus on strikes and/or kicks, jiujitsu focuses on close-contact “grappling” holds and techniques, and the application of chokes and joint-manipulations.

CJ Strongheart is First Nations from the Sai'kuz First Nation Frog clan of the Dake'lh tribe in the interior of British Columbia. He is a lifelong athlete and martial artist who achieved a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under World Champion Bibiano Fernandes and learned boxing under Team Canada Boxer Kenny Lally.
